The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the critical need for teaching students how to think, not just what to think. A recent study during Spain’s lockdown explored how secondary students used critical thinking to navigate the “infodemic” of fake news about COVID-19. The results showed that while students could identify true and false information, their arguments often lacked depth, emphasizing the need for better critical thinking education. By fostering critical thinking skills, educators can prepare students to make informed decisions, especially in socio-scientific contexts like health crises.
