From May 31 to June 6, 2026, Canadians are invited to celebrate Canadian Environment Week by taking action to protect the places we love and the planet we all share. Throughout the week, individuals, communities, and organizations across the country are encouraged to participate in environmental initiatives and join the conversation online using #EnviroWeek. This year’s observance highlights the importance of collective action in addressing some of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time, including climate change, biodiversity loss, and plastic pollution. These issues affect all of us and require cooperation at local, national, and global levels.
Key Dates During Environment Week:
June 3 – Canada’s Clean Air Day
Clean Air Day reminds us of the importance of clean air for our health, communities, and economy. As climate change contributes to longer, drier summers and increased wildfire activity, air quality has become an issue that affects millions of Canadians. Taking steps to reduce pollution and support sustainable practices helps protect the air we all breathe.
June 5 – United Nations World Environment Day
Led by the United Nations Environment Programme, World Environment Day is the largest international environmental awareness event. This year’s focus highlights the urgent need for climate action and recognizes that investing in a cleaner future benefits both people and the economy.
A Shared Responsibility:
Environmental protection is a responsibility that belongs to all of us. Whether through reducing waste, conserving energy, supporting local conservation efforts, or simply spending more time appreciating nature, every action contributes to a healthier future.
As we celebrate Canadian Environment Week, let’s remember that caring for our environment is not only about protecting nature today—it’s about ensuring a sustainable and thriving world for future generations.
– There is no Planet B. Let’s protect it for future generations –
Calgary Lilac Festival

Sunday, June 7 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm MDT
We’re excited to announce that Rocky Mountain Atheists will be setting up a booth at this year’s Calgary Lilac Festival (4th Street SW from 12th Avenue to Elbow Drive SW) on Sunday, June 7, 10 am to 6 pm and we want YOU to be a part of it!
Whether you’re an atheist, agnostic, or just curious about our community, visit us at our booth to learn more about the organization, our upcoming events, and the values we stand for. This is an excellent opportunity to meet like-minded individuals, ask questions, and connect with people who care about critical thinking, secularism, and the importance of free thought in our society.
We need volunteers to help staff the booth throughout the day. Volunteering is a great way to be actively involved, meet others, and help raise awareness about our mission. If you’re available, sign up and join us in making our booth a success!
