Keep An Eye On This Ebola Outbreak

Ebola is a deadly illness caused by the orthoebolavirus group, infamous for high fatality rates—reportedly up to 80–90% in some outbreaks. While transmission is primarily through direct contact with body fluids, it spreads far faster when health systems are weak or communities lack infrastructure. The current outbreak in the DRC is alarming, showing a steeper rise in cases than the West Africa outbreak of 2014 or the 2018 DRC flare-up, underscoring how quickly the scope can escalate without rapid response and clear public health measures.
