AI identifies hundreds of mysterious Nazca drawings in Peruvian desert
Around 2,000 years ago, ancient South Americans created massive geoglyphs in the Peruvian desert, depicting animals, humans, and plants. Now, thanks to AI technology, 303 new Nazca drawings have been discovered in just six months, almost doubling the number of known glyphs. Researchers, using high-resolution drone images, trained an AI program to identify these mysterious drawings, mostly relief-type geoglyphs. These smaller glyphs, often representing llamas, humanoid figures, and decapitated heads, provide new insights into daily life and culture. Meanwhile, larger line-type glyphs are thought to be linked to ceremonial pathways.
