AI-assisted research training offers a practical path for teaching undergrads to turn interests into solid, evidence-based questions. The core idea: pair a structured 8-step workflow with AI as a Socratic challenger. Humans handle broad topic selection and final verification, while AI helps generate subtopics, keywords, literature synthesis, and gap identification. The result? Enhanced critical thinking, clearer workflows, and a method that resists superficial outputs. The study suggests that integrating AI into education can reduce cheating by embedding AI into legitimate processes, provided the workflow is well defined and constantly questioned. It foregrounds thinking, not just producing, and argues the best future is one where AI augments human intellect rather than replaces it.
