Teenagers are growing up in a world where AI can generate fake explicit images with just a few clicks. A new report from Common Sense Media found that nearly half of teens have seen AI-generated sexual content, while almost one in five have created it themselves or know someone who has. In many cases, the images depict classmates or other people they know, raising concerns about privacy, consent, and the lasting impact of technology on young lives.
The report also shows that AI is changing how teens think about relationships, body image, and online safety. Many worry about becoming victims of fake explicit images, leading some to make their social media accounts private or stop sharing photos altogether. Experts say this isn’t just a family issue—it also involves schools, technology companies, and policymakers. As AI becomes part of everyday life, learning how to use it responsibly may be just as important as teaching digital literacy itself.
