An evening watching a live panel debate!
Please note: this is NOT our event, but a great opportunity to show up and represent RMA.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Students Association (AMSA) is putting on a Jubilee-style “Spectrum” debate exploring the question of God’s existence. Panellists will respond to a series of statements by holding up signs (Strongly Disagree, Disagree, Neutral, Agree, or Strongly Agree) and then explain their reasoning. It’s a direct, engaging format that makes for a genuinely interesting evening.
Perspectives on the panel include: Atheism, Islam, Christianity and Hinduism.
The moderated discussion will include a live Q&A, during which audience members can submit questions directly to the panel.
We are working to have a member of RMA join the panel as an atheist voice (NOT YET CONFIRMED). We’ll post an update as soon as we know.
The event organizers (AMSA) have a registration form, but there is no fee. The registration form appears to mainly be for contact info and to gauge attendance. Registering may be optional. It does not appear that a ticket is required to attend. Free pizza is available to all attendees who have registered via the AMSA form (presumably, more details below).
ICT 102 is in the Information and Communications Technology building on the U of C campus.
- Parking: Lots 21 and 22 are available, but they are not free; you will need to pay for parking.
- Transit: There is a bus stop near the ICT building (marked as WB Campus DR NW @ EEEL on Google Maps).
If you do wish to register via the AMSA form, do so at your own discretion. Your name, email and phone number will most likely be used for follow-up by the organizing association. Here is their registration form: https://tally.so/r/7RDlb6.
It was an event like this that eventually led me out of religion.
